Qualifications and experience
From a very early age, I have always had a passion for the English language and an appreciation of the eloquence and richness of English literature.
My enthusiasm for the subject drew me to the University of York where I graduated with a First-Class Honours degree in English Language and Linguistics. This course provided me with in-depth understanding of grammar, language structure and language development.
After this, I spent some years in primary and secondary education supporting children in many different subjects and helping them to develop their writing skills across the curriculum.
Since then, I have continued to broaden my interest by completing The Publishing Training Centre’s (PTC) Essential Proofreading Course, where I achieved a Distinction. I have also completed e-learning courses in Introduction to Publishing, Essential Grammar and Adobe Tools for Editors (all PTC).
Through studying for my qualifications and work experience, I have developed a very sharp eye for detail and an enquiring and analytical mind.
